Golf day raises funds for organ donation

A fourball team representing Tenk Loubser and Exceed participated in the Organ Donor Friends Golf Day at Pearl Valley Golf Estate near Paarl on 26 March 2013.

The golf day is an annual event hosted by Exsa Exports in cooperation with the Organ Donor Foundation of South African (ODF). Championed by Exsa Director Kosie Laubscher, the recipient of a donated kidney, the initiative aims to promote and raise funds for organ and tissue donation.

“There are thousands of people, many of them children, waiting for organs throughout South Africa. Their lives can be saved if we could create a more pro-active culture of organ donation amongst the general public. We want to mobilize support from the public sector as well as engage volunteers to assist us with this task,” Mr Laubscher said.

  • The Organ Donor Foundation of South Africa (ODF) is a non-profit organisation established with the aim of addressing the critical shortage of organ and tissue donors in South Africa through awareness and education campaigns aimed at the public and medical professionals. The Tenk Loubser/Exceed team comprising Jacques van der Westhuizen (Southern Canned Products), Hans Schroder (Jonkershoek Cellars), Etienne le Riche (Etienne le Riche Wines) and Willie Smith (Tenk Loubser Inc), also sponsored a par-3 hole. The teeing ground at the sponsored 14th hole became the backdrop of a fiercely contested marshmallow driving contest, with the biggest hitter winning tickets for the Tenk Loubser private suite at Newlands.
