Job Description:
- Tax Practitioner Registration and maintaining required hours
- Manage the administration of clients, including the take-on and take-off procedures
- Accurate and timeous data capturing and record keeping on ProfSoft, tax inbox and tax query list
- Completion and submission of tax returns for all entities (companies, trusts, close corporations) and individuals, as required
- Review of assessments as issued by SARS to confirm accuracy or to identify need for a dispute and the timeous communication of the before mentioned to related managers
- Sending of assessment letters to clients on a daily basis
- Prepare client billings within the monthly deadlines set
- Assisting Partners, Managers & clerks with any tax related matters
- Attend to requests from SARS on queries relating to clients
- Correspond with clients in order to obtain information to attend to relevant tasks and address queries
- Comply with all internal deadlines set
- Administration, preparation and submission of registration and deregistration documentation to SARS
- Require to obtain and maintain up to date knowledge of the Tax Administration Act
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of tax amendments and legislation
- Monthly checking of clients’ tax payments and refunds
- Training of clerks and other staff regarding any changes in legislation or SARS practices
- Supporting the Tax Compliance Officer with respective duties relating to Provisional tax administration, Income tax registrations (all tax types), E-filing database maintenance, Other Ad-hoc duties
- Attend to SARS appointment on behalf of and with clients
- Setup and transfer requests of e-filing profiles for new taxpayers
- Ensuring all tax queries are attended to promptly, efficiently and effectively and resolved within the required due date.
- Ensuring all tax queries are uploaded and maintained – query list should be accurate and up to date
- SAICA query register: queries should be listed and followed up
- Tax Ombudsman: relevant queries should be lodged and followed up
- Assist with weekly progress reporting on query lists and submissions of tax returns (up to date statistics)
- Assist with monthly insert of topical events on newsletter
- Be pro-active: Continuously try to improve the systems and processes in order to enhance efficiency, accuracy and clarity.
- Create and maintain open and efficient communication with other departments (audit, accounting, secretarial)
- Daily birthday list –attend to this on a daily basis, on Friday, include the weekend birthdays.
- Identify cross selling opportunities
- Adhere to general office rules and procedures and specific requests from partners
- Accurate naming of electronic files and filing on the network
- Proper conduct with regards to emails and filing of relevant information on the network – not allowed to work on Desktop, without immediately saving on the network
- Good use of language and no spelling mistakes required (reread emails before sending, ask someone to read your email in certain instances)
- No misuse or private use of office equipment or time
- Adhere to proper dress code (professional image required)
- Other related ad hoc duties
