Job Description: 

  • Take overall commercial responsibility of a product business unit.
  • Be responsible for the commercial budget and ensure the financial targets of the product are achieved.
  • Be responsible for the setting and managing of the strategic and operational objectives for the product (short, medium and long-term) and the key results to be pursued each quarter, based on the long-term objectives and strategic direction defined for the product.
  • Lead the product team including ensuring that each team member’s roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities are clear, performance of team members is at the required levels and develop and implement the human resourcing plans for the business unit.
  • Build the product’s client base through maintaining existing client relationships and creating new relationships.
  • Be responsible for sales, pipeline building, prospect engagement, proposal writing, negotiation of terms, and securing new licenses.
  • Be responsible for management of all client accounts and ensuring delivery of services.
  • Ensure all client support plans and processes are developed and executed in line with equipping clients to unlock maximum value.
  • Be responsible for development and maintenance of the sustainability content of the product platform.
  • Ensure overall effective management of the fixes and enhancements of the product platform.
  • Be responsible for developing and executing a product marketing and communications plan.
  • Take overall responsibility for the add-on product offering applications.
  • Support the company’s team of consultants in the delivery of its various consulting projects where they link to SHERPA such that projects are successfully completed, the highest standards of excellence and professionalism are upheld, and project clients are fully satisfied.
  • Engage in various strategic and operational processes with the company’s Senior Executive Team and the company’s other Commercial Heads.
  • Lead engagements with product’s key stakeholders (including funders and strategic partners), including preparing of funding applications.

 

Qualifications: 

  • B.Eng, BSc or MSc qualification, or similar.
  • Business science with a postgraduate qualification in sustainability.
  • Great interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • At least 3-5 years of work experience in a relevant field with team management experience.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
  • A deep passion for sustainability in agricultural/food systems with appropriate levels of understanding/knowledge of sustainability as a specialist subject area.
  • Comfortable in the use of online applications and strong knowledge/proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent Afrikaans & English verbal & written skills.
  • Based in Stellenbosch region or surrounds.
  • Have a valid SA drivers’ license and own transport.
