Job Description: 

  • Source and Purchase Commodities: Identify and purchase high-quality commodities from suppliers.
  • Sell Commodities to Customers: Develop and maintain relationships with customers to sell commodities, ensuring prompt delivery and excellent customer service.
  • Manage Cross-Border Logistics: Coordinate with logistics and transportation providers to ensure efficient and timely delivery of commodities across multiple borders in the SADC region.
  • Conduct Market Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to stay up-to-date on market trends, prices, and competitor activity in the SADC region.
  • Manage Risk and Compliance: Manage trading risks, including price, Forex, credit, and operational risks, and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, logistics providers, and government agencies, to ensure smooth trading operations.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in cross-border trading, preferably in the SADC region.
  • Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the SADC region’s commodity markets, including market trends, prices, and competitor activity.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English and at least one other SADC language, such as Portuguese, Afrikaans, or Swahili.
  • Certifications: SAIFM Agricultural Market Dealers Certification will be an advantage.
