Mechanical Engineer Internship

Job Description: 

  • 3D Modelling & Technical Drawings: Create accurate SolidWorks models for parts and assemblies, and compile technical drawings for manufacturing documentation.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and provide technical support.
  • Product Research & Development: Conduct product research, analyse market trends, and assist with the justification of design concepts.
  • Planning & Scheduling: Organise and prioritise activities within the product development cycle.
  • Workshop Assistance: Assist in the workshop with prototype production and handle general hands-on tasks as required.
  • Manufacturing Support: Work with sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, welding, and plastics/polymer products to ensure high-quality production standards.
  • Fabrication Oversight: Support in milling, machining, and fabrication processes.
  • Team Collaboration: Be a proactive and reliable team player, assisting in a range of product development tasks.

Qualifications: 

  • A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • SolidWorks Expertise: Proficient in 3D modelling and assembly design, and creating detailed technical drawings.
  • Hands-On Experience: Comfortable working in a workshop environment to produce prototypes and assist in fabrication.
  • Product Development Knowledge: Previous experience in a drawing office or product development environment is a plus.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Experience with sheet metal, laser cutting, welding, and working with plastics and polymers.
  • Machining & Fabrication Understanding: A solid grasp of milling, machining, and general fabrication practices.
  • Team Player: A positive, hardworking, and results-oriented individual who thrives in a team environment.
  • Administrative Skills: Well-organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing tasks efficiently.
  • Communication Skills: Fully bilingual, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Additional Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license.
