IT Support Technician

Job Description:

  • On site Level 2 support of 150 user network based on Microsoft services
  • Support company employees with access to core IT services
  • Deal with technical issues escalated from Level 1 Support
  • IT Helpdesk and Incident Management
  • Troubleshooting of issues impacting core IT services
  • Setup and deployment of Networking equipment including switches, wireless access points, firewalls, telephones and printers
  • Setup workstation related hardware and software
  • Administer Microsoft File and Print Services, Active Directory, Exchange and SharePoint environment including creating new users and security permissions and policy assignment
  • Management of third party service providers regarding installation of cabling and equipment based on IT standards
  • Documentation of IT deployments and changes
  • IT Asset Management
  • Administer IT support tools to assist with software deployment, fault finding, troubleshooting and proactive support tasks
  • Training of users and staff to improve productivity, process efficiency and security awareness
  • Implement and manage small network projects, software updates and changes


  • Matric Grade 12
  • Formal IT diploma or related international certification (N+,MCSA,CCNA)
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Willingness to work after hours and weekends as needed
  • 2 year working experience in similar role
  • Exposure to large networking environments
  • Understanding of IP routing and subnetting
  • Proven ability to setup and assign vlans on Cisco or HP switches
  • Experience with administrating firewalls
  • Experience with central management tools
  • In depth technical knowledge of Microsoft Server and Client Operating Systems
  • In depth technical knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
