Job Description: 

  • Making of Precision Tools
  • The Toolmaker is responsible for the execute of tooling
  • Manufacture tools, jigs and dies to the required specification.
  • Execute test runs with finished tools or dies to assure components attain parameters and adapt as necessary
  • Ensure that the Senior Toolmaker approves the completed tool for handover to Production.
  • Ensure to select, devise, prepare and fabricate shop aids needed to complete work tasks.
  • Quality of work and achieving production targets
  • The Toolmaker is responsible for the following quality control measures and achieving targets
  • Ensure you have the correct materials for the specified job and that they are the correct size
  • Ensure tooling complies with health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure that the quality of all products are correct by performing quality checks
  • Record keeping and corrective action
  • The Toolmaker is responsible for record keeping and corrective action
  • When a tool is reported as faulty or broken, he must check the last off
  • Do a physical check or fault finding on the tool to identify problem
  • Keep record of all repairs and changes to tool in the TOOL HISTORY CARD, which include:
    • Parts replaced
    • Tool downtime
    • Operator issues
    • Units produced
    • Any other production issues on the tool

Qualifications: 

  • Tool Die & Jig Apprenticeship
  • Experience of working in a factory environment is essential
  • Ability to manage a team and plan ahead
  • Basic mechanical ability
  • Ability to identify all components needed to complete assemblies
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, managers
  • Good organisation skills
  • Take responsibility and problem solving
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Ability to act decisively and solve staff or equipment-related problems
  • Capacity to grasp concepts easily
  • IT literacy to deal with various technologies and programmes
  • Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality
  • Ability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a logical, systematic manner
