Data Analyst & Category Manager

Job Description: 

  • Analyse data and provide the Management and Sales Teams with insights to drive sustainable category growth.
  • Work closely with service providers to ensure accurate business enhancing tools and information.
  • Together with the Sales and Marketing Teams, develop category strategies aligned to the business objectives, delivering profitable growth for the duration of a 3-to-5-year horizon.
  • Data Analysis
  • Combine information from different sources to provide the business with category insights.
  • Prepare and assist with Sales and Category Reviews/Deep dives,  Internal and External Category reviews, Ad hoc analysis and review requests, including commercial arguments, Category retailer reviews for TOP customers, Monthly EXCO reporting (Analysis),  Gap Analysis support to Sales Team, Category Management Support and Lead, Management of category growth leveraging the demand variables
  • Develop annual Category and Segment growth strategies.
  • Driving innovation/Identifying GAPS through market intelligence both locally and globally whilst keeping abreast of trends.
  • Assisting with feasibility assessments in line with category growth objectives for New Product Development (NPD).
  • Manage relationships with all data sources and partners.
  • Prepare and present the quarterly sales and category reviews as well as monthly category performance reports.
  • Reviewing competitor strategies and reviews per Category within the Category growth plans
  • Assist with the promotional impact analysis as well as assisting with ideal price points (especially on new product development) – Price Elasticity
  • Assisting the sales operations team with information sharing, including information on category performance, category location store analysis, and monthly listing and ranging updates
  • Providing Category input into Retail Channel Plans and Key Account strategies
  • Providing input into Brand Plans and support go to marketing strategies.
  • Driving joint business planning, understanding true demand and growth opportunities by category and by customer

Qualifications: 

  • BCom or relevant degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ working experience in a similar role.
  • Category Management knowledge and experience in FMCG preferred.
