King III workshop: Pitfalls and challenges for good corporate governance

On 6 August 2009, the second in a series of workshops on the King III proposals and the application of alternative risk solutions in risk management was held at Erinvale Estate in Somerset West.

In his presentation, Mr Tenk Loubser emphasized the role of ethical leadership in business and the responsibility that every business leader has in modeling ‘unashamedly ethical’ practices to peers and employees.

André Ferreira, director of Alternative Risk Solutions, gave an introduction to the unique and valuable benefits that self-insurance can add to risk management practices in business. He made it clear that a mind-shift was required to move from the current conventional insurance system to a solution which provides control over risks and which channels funds back to businesses.

The evening proved to be such a success that Exceed was requested to host similar workshops in future.
