Job Description:
- Blending of new wines for new products / contracts in collaboration with the sales team. If required, working with clients and the market directly.
- Preparation of all samples for tastings, wine shows, new business, new vintage approval on current business, 3rd party sample / style approval and analysis approval.
- Ensures wine samples sent for bulk or bottle approval are according to required specifications.
- Responsible together with Winemaker & Production Manager in signing off the sensorial quality off all bulk wine and bottle products prior to loading / filling and post-production sensorial quality monitoring.
- Prepare & enter submissions for prominent wine competitions and proper record keeping of all entries and accolades received.
- Setting up of SAGE wine specifications based on approved samples analysis and NPI’s.
- Setting up of SAGE wine specifications for all 3rd Party wines, based on information provided on BRS’s.
- Setting up of SAGE wine specifications for all NON-SA wines and international bottling sites.
- Adheres to QMS standards and procedures
- Follows QMS protocol as described by QMS procedures
- Adheres to protective clothing policy.
- Adheres to company and statutory Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Works closely with the safety representative to ensure adherence to safe work practices.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Relevant Degree or Diploma in Wine Making
- Valid driver’s licence
- Viticulture, wine & winemaking knowledge.
- Strong record keeping skills.
- Excellent wine tasting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must show initiative, be target driven and self-motivated.
- Diligent work attitude.
- Five years wine making experience in similar environment.
