Accountant

Job Description:

  • Take full responsibility for the end-to-end financial function at the depot
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including VAT and PAYE submissions
  • Manage cost accounting, budgeting, and financial planning processes
  • Oversee debtors and creditors functions
  • Perform tax calculations and ensure accurate reporting
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure audit readiness
  • Liaise with Head Office and report on financial performance
  • Implement and maintain financial controls, systems, and processes
  • Lead and support the finance/admin team at depot level
  • Ensure efficient administrative and financial operations
  • Work extended hours when required during peak/seasonal periods

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting (SAICA, SAIPA, or CIMA preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-articles experience
  • Strong practical accounting experience, including:
    • Tax calculations
    • Cost accounting
    • Debtors and creditors management
    • Statutory compliance (VAT, PAYE)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage X3, Pastel) and Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skill
