Job Description:

  • Manage the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, including oversight of debtor and creditor reconciliations and timely processing of payments and receipts.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy between bank statements and general ledger records.
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns, ensuring compliance with SARS regulations and deadlines.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including the calculation and recording of monthly depreciation in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly trial balances, including thorough balance sheet reconciliations and incorporation of fixed asset register adjustments.
  • Support inventory control processes, including participation in and reconciliation of monthly stock counts.
  • Assist with year-end financial audits, including the preparation of audit working papers, responding to audit inquiries, and ensuring supporting documentation is available and accurate.
  • Salary administration and payroll
  • Assist in preparing for and supporting the annual B-BBEE audit, ensuring required financial data and reports are accurate and available.
  • Provide ad hoc accounting support to the finance team, assisting with reconciliations, data analysis, and other finance-related tasks as needed.
  • Perform foreign currency (forex) calculations and related accounting entries, ensuring accurate treatment of currency conversions and gains/losses.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow.
  • Conduct variance analysis between actuals and budget/forecast; investigate and explain significant discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports with financial insights to support decision-making.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical data and trend analysis.
  • Assist with treasury management, including loan administration and interest calculations.
  • Liaise with external auditors, bankers, tax advisors, and suppliers/customers on financial matters.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting is a minimum requirement
  • 3- 5 years experience as an accountant
  • Knowledge of working with forex will be beneficial
