Viticulturist

Job Description:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all vineyard production activities throughout the growing season.
  • Manage all aspects of vineyard production, including soil preparation, planting, irrigation, nutrition, pruning, canopy management, crop protection, and harvesting.
  • Monitor vineyard health, growth, and yield potential through regular field inspections and technical assessments.
  • Develop and implement production programmes to optimise grape quality, yield, and sustainability.
  • Analyse production data and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Work closely with production teams, technical advisors, and the winemaking team to achieve optimal grape quality.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in viticulture.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Viticulture, Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in commercial vineyard production or viticulture.
  • Strong knowledge of vineyard management, irrigation, soil management, plant nutrition, crop protection, and harvest planning.
  • Experience with production planning, data analysis, and modern viticulture practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and agricultural or farm management systems.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Passion for sustainable agriculture and continuous improvement.
