Automation Technician

Job Description:

• Technical support primarily DF (Digital Farming) products, but scope of work will also include support on the entire basket of products available.
• Development of Auto Cad drawings & design
• Assist with on-site installations & commissioning of DF products for technical projects & Beta Sites
• Direct report to DF Technical Manager, with secondary report to DF Product Manager where needed
• Assist with Assembly.
  • Automation irrigation dosing units
  • Controllers in cabinets with protection devices
  • Radio units & Base Stations
  • Testing of all software + hardware
  • Wiring of cabinets and panels
• Troubleshoot
  • Controller hardware
  • Controller software
  • Telephonic support to Technical Advisors, Dealers and End Users
  • On-Site support to dealers and end users in South Africa, SADC Countries & East Africa
• Training on DF Products
  • Training of dealers and end users on correct usage of automation equipment
• Filter Bank & Other Products
  • Where required assist with the servicing of filter banks and back flush controllers, etc.

Qualifications:

• Qualified Electrician with Trade Certificate
• National Diploma/BTech/Degree in one of the following disciplines:
• Engineering/Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronics
• Valid Driver’s Licence
• 3-5 years’ relevant experience
• Good time management skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Self-starter and good problem-solving skills
• Valid passport – The position entails travel throughout the country as well as surrounding countries
• If National Diploma / BTech/Degree – Candidate should obtain Trade Certificate as Millwright or Electrician within 1st year of employment, at the companies cost.
