Field Technician

Job Description:

  • Install, configure, test, commission, and service irrigation automation and control systems at client sites across Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Perform fault-finding, maintenance, and repairs on existing automation, control, and pump motor control systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers on the operation of newly installed and existing systems.
  • Manage service-related administration, including time management and accurate stock control.
  • Assist with the production and assembly of electrical control panels when required.
  • Provide telephonic technical support to clients and ensure excellent customer service.
  • Travel extensively to customer sites and provide support outside normal business hours when required.

Qualifications:

  • Matric (Grade 12).
  • Qualification in Electrical, Millwright, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, or Electronics (N2/N3, Diploma, or Degree).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Field Service Technician, Electrical Technician, or in a similar technical role.
  • Experience with AC Variable Speed Drives, Soft Starters, PLCs, PC Networking, Instrumentation, Hydraulic Valves, and Hydraulic Control Systems will be advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s licence and valid passport.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and work flexible hours when required.
