Job Description: 

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining impactful PowerBI reports and interactive dashboards that visualise critical sustainability metrics and performance indicators for our clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Building robust data models within PowerBI, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and optimal performance.
  • Developing and optimising efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to seamlessly integrate data from various sources into our BI solutions.
  • Collaborating closely with our Product Success and Client Success teams to gather and translate reporting requirements into innovative and effective BI solutions.
  • Conducting in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that will directly inform product development, client strategies, and overall business decisions.
  • Performing rigorous fault-finding and bug testing on existing BI solutions to ensure their reliability and functionality.
  • Assisting with the setup and ongoing maintenance of complex sustainability performance indicator calculations and emission factors within our online products.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our BI architecture, data governance, and visualisation best practices.
  • Project management.

Qualifications: 

  • A demonstrable passion for sustainability and an understanding of key concepts such as carbon emissions measurement, life cycle assessment, and broader climate change discourse.
  • A proactive, self-starting individual who can work independently and take initiative.
  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative field is advantageous.
  • 1-2 years of hands-on, proven work experience as a BI Developer specifically with Power BI. This includes strong familiarity with Power Query (M language) and DAX.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical reasoning skills, with an exceptional attention to detail.
  • A solid understanding of database concepts and SQL, with an awareness of how data is extracted from various online platforms and basic data warehousing principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working proficiency in Power BI, including DAX.
  • The ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary team environment, collaborating effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Exceptional English verbal and written communication skills.
  • A client-centric mindset, conscientious, and always willing to go the extra mile to deliver quality.
  • Adaptable, with outstanding time management and prioritisation abilities.
  • Must be based in the Stellenbosch region or surrounding areas.
  • Possession of a valid SA driver’s license and own reliable transport.
