Financial Manager

Job Description: 

  • Provide strategic and operational financial leadership across farming, packing, export, and international entities.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, dashboards, and financial reports, including variance analysis and performance insights.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and capital allocation processes.
  • Oversee statutory compliance across South Africa and Namibia (tax, VAT, CIPC/BIPA, SARB/BON approvals).
  • Manage external audit processes and ensure accurate financial documentation and controls.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, including coaching, performance management, and capacity building.
  • Oversee creditors, debtors, general ledger, and financial reconciliations across local and foreign entities.
  • Manage grower payments, retailer collections, and credit risk exposure.
  • Drive costing, inventory, margin, and profitability analysis to support commercial decision-making.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and forex exposure.
  • Strengthen financial controls, governance, and segregation of duties.
  • Identify inefficiencies and support continuous improvement and cost optimisation initiatives.

Qualifications: 

  • CA(SA) or BCom Accounting/Finance with completed articles (SAICA/SAIPA/CIMA).
  • 8–10 years’ finance experience, including 3–5 years in a senior financial management role.
  • Experience in the fresh produce export industry (essential).
  • Strong understanding of export finance, consignment/FOB sales, and multi-currency accounting.
  • Experience with agricultural/export systems (e.g., Palbroker, Paltrack, QX, Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
  • Strong financial reporting, budgeting, and analytical capability.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills (Power BI/SQL advantageous).
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational ability.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, export-driven environment.
  • Fully bilingual (English and Afrikaans).
