Financial Accountant

Job Description:

• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Analyse financial performance, trends and budget variances.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, payments, bank balances and transfers.
• Oversee month-end journals, general ledger reconciliations and closing processes.
• Complete VAT, statutory returns and fixed asset reconciliations.
• Manage local and foreign accounts payable and creditors.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, year-end processes and external audits.
• Review financial controls and identify process improvements.
• Lead and support members of the finance team.
• Work with operational departments to resolve financial queries and improve processes.

Qualifications:

• BCom degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant accounting experience.
• Manufacturing, pharmaceutical, FMCG or similar industry experience strongly preferred.
• Previous experience managing or supervising employees essential.
• Strong management accounting, reconciliation and month-end experience.
• Experience with cash flow management and statutory reporting.
• Strong accounts payable and creditor management experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial accounting systems.
• Syspro experience advantageous.
• CA(SA), completed articles or SAIPA designation advantageous.
• Strong leadership, analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, planning and deadline management.
• Strong communication, commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills.
