Job Description:
- Team Management:
- Assign daily tasks to packing staff and monitor task completion.
- Ensure productivity, motivation, and discipline within the team.
- Lead, develop, and mentor staff where necessary.
- Plan and implement work schedules or shifts.
- Production and Packhouse:
- Ensure that fresh herbs are packed on time and according to specifications.
- Ensure compliance with production targets and client requirements.
- Identify and implement improvements in production and packing processes.
- Food Safety and Quality Control:
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety standards and legal regulations.
- Supervise cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Prepare for audits and ensure compliance with client-specific standards
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to address irregularities.
- Administration and Systems Use:
- Operate inventory, production, and packing systems (e.g., ERP or similar platforms).
- Maintain and improve existing data systems for greater efficiency.
- Keep accurate records of production volumes, output, and staff performance.
- Customer Service and Marketing:
- Handle client queries and complaints professionally and promptly.
- Promote and proudly represent the brand in all dealings.
- Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to enhance product visibility.
- Ensure packaging and presentation of products meet client specifications.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the fresh produce or food processing industry.
- Strong background in food safety, HACCP protocols, and packhouse operations.
- Experience dealing with large retail clients (preferably Pick n Pay or Checkers).
- Proven experience in managing teams of 20+ staff members
- Computer literate: proficient in MS Excel, Outlook, and inventory or production systems.
