Job Description:

  • Our client needs the services of an audit manager for their offices in Mossel Bay. For the ideal candidate, who can accept service as soon as possible, the firm offers a pleasant and stimulating environment where excellent experience can be gained at all levels.
  • Preparation of accounting work with regard to financial statements
  • Examine, analyze and interpret accounting records in order to prepare financial statements (“IFRS for SMEs & full IFRS”)
  • Training of SAICA apprentice accountants and management of related external training
  • Assist with the management of SAICA trainee accountants and the TSR / PSR / ANA process on a timely basis
  • Management of audits from start to finish in terms of International Auditing Standards (i.e. from client acceptance to client archiving and fee)
  • Perform advanced audit / review tests and procedures
  • Leading the audit team with clients in the absence of the director
  • Supervision of the audit staff and projects
  • Assistance to and training of junior staff
  • Conducting an overview of the work of juniors
  • Evaluation of the results of procedures / tests performed
  • Marking of Audit (High Risk and Normal), Overview and Compilation files for reporting to the director
  • Responsible for ensuring that audit quality and risk management are adhered to in the marking process
  • Will be the first point of contact for inquiries from staff regarding audits and quality
  • Liaison with the client regarding audit related matters
  • Management of a portfolio of clients (including fees, work-in-process and debtors)
  • Work directly with clients
  • Managing more than one audit at a time
  • Management of and taking responsibility for the audit budgets as well as deviations therefrom
  • Writing reports and management letters
  • Responsible for CQS related updates and queries, as well as managing templates
  • Ensure that you achieve the minimum hours that can be invoiced
  • Work with senior manager and other peers for strategy development, planning and execution

Qualifications:

  • B.Accounting (Hons) or equivalent degree at a SAICA approved university
  • Completed SAICA clerkship
  • Able to perform the above duties
  • High technical proficiency (IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, Companies Act, International Auditing Standards and Taxation)
  • Good knowledge of external audit methodology
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of Caseware
  • MS Excel and MS Word literacy at a high level
  • Has the ability to take the lead and work well within a group context and with people from different backgrounds
  • Pro-active and self-motivated
  • Pleasant and strong personality
  • Responsible and committed to “go the extra mile”
  • Must be able to demonstrate personal and time management in order to meet deadlines
  • Decent and fluent in languages
  • Dedicated to quality service
  • Must be willing and able to provide assistance and guidance to junior staff
  • Own transport and valid driver’s license are required
  • Travel to clients, locally and nationally, is required
  • Overtime will be required from time to time in order to meet deadlines
  • Must be fluent in Afrikaans and English (speaking, reading and writing)
