Financial Controller

Job Description: 

  • Providing financial reports and interpreting financial information.
  • Directing staff and manage all aspects of the Finance department.
  • Assisting in monitoring and improving internal controls (using automation and report building)
  • Overseeing or participating in general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash book, disbursement processes and fixed assets.
  • Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions compared to the budget.
  • Monitors cashflow on monthly basis. Correspond and negotiate favorable terms with creditors.
  • Enforce and implement compliance procedures in accordance with approved financial policies and regulations.
  • Verify discrepancies and resolve any client’s issues.
  • Prepare deliverables for Ad hoc requests for the Finance Committee, outsourced Financial accountancy consultant and other stakeholders
  • Perform close processes and liase with external financial accountancy in preparing of monthly management statements.
  • Perform close processes and liase with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained. Assist with preparation of Financial Statements.
  • Reconcile accounts in a timely manner. (Including verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording data)
  • Inform management and compile reports on activity areas.
  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Company Secretary function. Responsible for Financial Committee and Directors meetings.
  • Attending Disciplinary hearings in conjunction with HR consultants.
  • Collecting and verifying timekeeping information for management

Qualifications: 

  • NQF Level 7 or Equivalent
  • CIMA or B. Com Accounting will be advantageous.
  • Proven accounting experience of at least 3 years in similar role
  • Cost accounting experience can be an advantage.
  • Excellent computer literacy (MS Excel advanced)
  • Competent in Xero Accounting system will be advantageous.
  • Fruit industry experience will be advantageous.
  • Experience in Vitrax packing system will be advantageous.
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with data systems such as Power BI, Qlikview, or similar platforms can be an advantage.
  • Pack house knowledge will be advantageous.
